Postcards: Inlands of Bali (ID)

A considerable amount of time of our final 24 hours in Bali was spent on the road. The north-south parallel roads system in the region we were at meant it would never be quick to get from one place to another, even if they are geographically nearby. From the car, we scanned the horizons so to remember what it was like to be there, and when the vista got really interesting, we asked Komang to park to the side briefly so I could at least grab a few photos.

Given Komang was really there to be our driver and not as a driver-guide, I don’t have much stories to tell you in return either. Nonetheless, I hope you too enjoy the views which we had oohed-aahed over ;)

In case you’re wondering, the photo series started with our descent from Mount Agung and en route to Ubud, we came across a ceremonial procession. Coming in to Ubud, we found it to be too busy and hectic (read: traffic and tourists everywhere – to which I put the blame on “Eat, Pray, Love”) so we opted to limit our exploration of the town.

The next morning, we headed north towards Tegallalang for the terraced paddy fields, and Penelokan to admire Mount Batur that we’ve sadly missed trekking on. We visited the Holy Water Spring (Pura Tirta Empul) on our way back southward, and just before heading to the airport, we also managed to squeeze in one last trip to the beach. We made it to Balangan Beach, currently still relatively untouched by the marks of mass tourism but I fear this won’t last for too long…

Thanks! The drama actually came by because we were stuck inside the car with an awkward traffic jam, so I had twist at funny angle to shoot it. I was very pleased with how it came out, of course ;)
