Postcards: Versailles and Trianon (FR)

Just about every non-French visitors chez nous had requested a visit to Versailles in their Paris to-do list. Some got the required information on how to get there for a day-trip, some were personally accompanied by yours truly.

On average, I’ve gone out there at least once a year. Each time I came back swearing I’d never subject myself to the cattle-herding system of visiting the palace again, until sufficient time had lapsed and I found myself agreeing to another visit request. I am not learning my lesson very well, am I?

Of all the times that I’ve visited though, this trip was by far the quietest among them, although certain rooms were still chock-a-block packed. It is most likely thanks to the fact that we were visiting midweek in October, when the chilly weather would normally keep me indoor instead of trudging along to an old palace, followed by long walk in the gardens to get to the smaller palaces of Trianon.

Now that I’ve filled my Versailles visiting quota for 2013, who knows when I’ll revisit next. I’m thinking at least one year gap to start, and since I can’t think of any of my closest friends visiting in 2014 (they’re trying to get me to visit them instead) so perhaps 2015?
