Hiking Camaret-sur-Mer

We woke up on a Saturday morning to reasonable cloud cover but looked set to hold steadily. After a quick trip to the supermarket nearby to get our picnic supplies, we headed south-west of Brest to Camaret-sur-Mer. A 4.5-hours hike around this part of Crozon peninsula was our activity of the day. That, and getting back to Brest in time for a lovely dinner at a super sushi restaurant in town. This is how every excursion should be planned; something active, followed by something delicious as a reward for the hard work put in. ;)

The trail led us to many picturesque spots of cliffs, beaches and war memorials. We didn’t spot the megalithic alignments mentioned in our guide though… Third quarter through, we sort of got a little lost, walking along narrowest paths among tall bushes and not seeing markers that would guide us to where we should be. We ended up by a main road, followed it along for a good bit, before rediscovering the trail and continued with it.

We eventually looped back towards Camaret, spotted the Tour Vauban which is an Unesco Heritage Site but which we did not have time to visit. A quick drink at a local pub allowed us to rest a little and quenched our thirst, before we piled back into the car for the drive back. Quite a pleasant day, really. The pirate was just a special touch ;)
