Les flâneuses of the Left Bank

Edna and I met up on Thursday for a Vietnamese lunch not too far away from Nation. As the sky cleared up for the afternoon while we searched for something sweet – we ended up in Grom for some gelati – an afternoon flânerie was definitely in order.

We explored parts of the 5th and 6th arrondissements, the two neighbourhoods often featured in this blog. Afterall, these are my regular stomping grounds, where I work and live. I am always excited to show them off to everyone and here I am, showing them off to you too! ;)

For the curious, we took bus #86 from Nation and made our first stop at the Institut du Monde Arabe, where we could get up to the 9th floor of the building (it’s free) and enjoy a panoramic view of the city. From there, we hopped onto bus #87 to Sénat (diverted route due to works on rue de l’École-de-Médecine) and continued by foot. After a pause at Grom, we strolled towards Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe, entered the Jardin du Luxembourg, crossed rue Auguste Comte to get to the Jardin Marco Polo and also visited Musée Zadkine which is free to enter!

Edna and I both agreed we should organise another flânerie soon, perhaps to tackle the Arènes de Lutèce, the Grande Mosquée de Paris and its tea room, and the Jardin des Plantes. I’ll keep you posted, and have a good weekend! :)

it’s just nice to see a lot more colours and life than dull grey, you know. even the blue sky, thing that we take for granted living near the equator, nowadays matters a lot more! ;)

lunch was quite good – we went to paris hanoi, and i’m glad we were there early as a queue started forming outside very quickly soon after!
