Postcards: Kuala Lumpur (MY)
Unlike many of my friends, I have never lived in Kuala Lumpur, neither to study nor to work. Instead, it becomes a pitstop each time I travel back to Malaysia, mostly because my flights arrive and depart from KLIA, and usually I’d organise to see my friends in the couple of days leading to my departure.
Trying to show F around was therefore not a particularly easy task, since my knowledge of the city is rather limited. Armed with a good map, we managed to get around the historical centre of KL, taking in a few classic sites and walked the streets whenever it wasn’t raining. Oh yeah, they seemed to be heavy downpour for 2-3 hours each of the few days we were there, which curtailed some of our planned sightseeing.
Our final sightseeing activity before heading to the airport was to visit the Petronas Twin Towers. It used to be free to visit up to the level of the skybridge (41st-42nd floors) between the two buildings, but since the last couple of years, they’ve opened up a viewing deck on the 86th floor and the semi-guided visit for the towers had transformed into a money making machine. How so? Well, foreigners are charged RM80 (~€18) per person, while Malaysians get a discounted price of RM25 (~€5.55).
We could rather proudly announced that we didn’t do rounds of the massive shopping centres in KL, and the only one we actually sort of went to was Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, just so we can meet up with an old friend of mine for afternoon tea. The sheer scale of shopping centres in KL scares even me, never mind F who had never seen anything like it before. Seriously, how many shopping centres does a city need?
lovely weather indeed and that night shot, from the plane?!?
Actually it’s a made-up model, found in KL City Gallery (next to the Dataran Merdeka).
ohhh…now i recall ;)

Lovely Images! ! ! Kuala Lumpur is my one of the favorite tourist cities in Asia.
